3/27/14 After getting my car from my parents' house after coming back from the airport I needed FOOD ASAP!! This place is a little down the ways from my apt and they have great lunch specials. I hadn't been there in over a year or so I wanted to try things out again. This time I did carry out. I was able to find parking right in front in the busy parking lot. I went in an placed my order and waiting in my car for about 10 mins checking work VM. Once I headed back in my order was ready and I paid and was on my way. Once I got home I saw that they were some fried wontons in the bag. Added bonus! Not the best that I have had but none the less FREE! I ordered the drunken noodles with chicken! Not like I remember but not horrible! I was little underwhelmed! Every other time I have dined in so maybe it lost it POW to me because it was carry out! It was just ok! Wish I had wasted my calories on something else that day! Lol! I will give it another go in a few months! This place still to me has good Thai food for this area.

The place is nice and clean. We ordered chicken pad thai and tofu curry. They were delicious and tasted pretty authentic. The thai iced tea was so good! Prices are reasonable. Will definitely come back!

Good lunch specials. Good spice on the noodle dishes and a vegetarian soup for appetizer. Worth the stop.

I try to eat here when I'm up this way and have the time. Quiet atmosphere. Good for slowing down for just a little bit. Clean and appealing to the eye. Service is pretty quick. I ordered drunken noodles mild and while not spicy, I ordered it that way, the dish comes out very hot giving me time to write this review. All dishes come to your table fresh and hot. The drunken noodles with chicken, you can get seafood, beef or or pork as well, is great. Very tasty. I also enjoyed the spring rolls. Crispy, not greasy. The little bowl of slightly sweet sauce sealed the deal. I'll be back.

Skip it. Over an hour wait for our food. We were seated right away. Never took our drink order after we sat down just came over 10 mins later to see if we wanted to order. We ordered two entrees, soup, and an appetizer. It literally took over an hour for our food. I was hoping that the meal would be good and worth the wait... It was not. The flavor was underwhelming. Not as zesty and vibrant as Thai food usually is. Drinks were watered down as well. The wait staff was also very unapologetic. They didn't care that we were waiting or offer any type of apology. This place is worth missing. I will not be back.

A favorite of my family. Recently visited for a birthday dinner. The Pad Thai is authentic and warms the soul. Also the fried calamari is surprisingly flavorful, crunchy, and not too chewy. I took a gamble on it because I ONLY order fried calamari at Italian restaurants ( I've been disappointed in the past when trying calamari of another cuisines.) The sweet basil fried rice is out of this world (great balance of sweet and spicy). Terrific choice if you want something other than typical fried rice. Very affordable, family style plating, and friendly service.

I've dined in before here once. Really enjoyed the food. I ordered for takeout on Monday (2-23-15) late afternoon. I ordered chicken drunken noodles. It was good, still hot when I got home. Give this place a try. Thai food at its best. Frankly, I would give this place 5 starts but giving it 4 because I was a little disappointed on the takeout portion.

I had my first Thai food ever here today. I was somewhat skeptical due to its size and being in a strip mall. I was very pleasantly surprised. I had the sweet basil fried rice with chicken and it was exquisite. My husband had the grilled salmon and reported it to be delicious.

Food was good. The decorum was beautiful but,,,,,,,,,,The service was bad. For some reason the staff thought it was okay to take the orders of,and serve others who had clearly arrived after we did. Well, like others have stated,"it doesn't matter how good the food is if the service is not!

Worst $30 I ever spent...panang curry was nothing but sauce...8 tiny pieces of chicken...drunken noodles were mostly green peppers and onions..and the worst was the mango and sticky rice...the underside of the mango was brown...disgusting. .ordered as take out before they closed last night...will definitely call manager in the am...see my posted photos of mango and sticky rice...repugnant

Whoa whoa whoa! How did this place only score a 3.5? The food is AMAZING. I'm a legitimate Thai food snob (having been spoiled by terrific Thai food on the West coast) and I was blown away by the food here. At first I was hesitant to try this place, but the next closest Thai restaurant appeared to be 10 miles away (literally!) and we were too tired to make that drive. It had been a really long week for me and my mom. We were visiting a relative in the hospital and were emotionally exhausted. We ordered the pad thai with chicken, fresh garlic and black pepper beef stir-fry (which looked rather unappetizing and bland on the picture, but we ordered it anyway) and chicken panang curry. The quality of the ingredients and flavor were on point for all three dishes. The garlic and pepper beef stir fry (served on top of fresh broccoli) was hands-down our favorite. The beef was tender and packed with flavors, and the broccoli balanced the flavor well. We finished the chicken panang curry down to the last drop. The pad thai didn't disappoint either (we had to order it after reading Lori B's review). In short, delicious meal, cute home-y atmosphere (as in home-like, not "Whatsup homie?"), and friendly service (our waiter did forget to bring us our pot of jasmine tea, but quickly remedied it apologetically). It was such a nice meal that wiped away the worries and crappy turn of events we had that day. Thank you for a nice, replenishing meal, Crystal Thai, you rock!

Grear local cuisine. 5 levels of spice. My only gripe was they were slow on the water refills. I drink more water than most, but my glass was more empty than full. Otherwise, great spot with fair prices. BYO is a nice perk.

Dropped in for lunch on Thursday for some quick Thai food. Ordered a Thai Iced Tea and Ginger Chicken with Veggie Soup. The Thai Iced Tea was made with a bit too much sweetened condensed milk, which I later learned was simply half and half. We adjusted the proportions to, like, 1/3 milk vs. the previous 2/3, and that worked fine. I'm not sure if more Thai restaurants are Americanizing their Thai Iced tea lately, or if my palate is changing, and my limited sugar approach to food lately is working? Also, since I have yet to visit Thailand yet myself, is Thai Iced Tea even truly Thai? Someone who knows please correct / inform me - I welcome your insight. While ordinarily I would order pad see ew, pad kee mao, or panang curry, my stomach was feeling a bit queasy this day, so I ordered the ginger chicken - it was good. I liked it, but don't have much to compare it to. (Yes, I'm using poor grammar.) Super friendly server.

I am a Thai food lover and the taste of this food was amazing! The service was quick with the food delivered hot and quick. I ordered the sweet basil rice with chicken and the drunken noodles to eat in. While they both were, as I said, really good, there were few "noodles" in the drunken noodles and the portion size was much smaller than I would have expected. I ordered the mango sticky rice to go... The mango was extremely fresh ang sweet but the rice was more like mush.

The spice combinations are pretty good, the problem was the vegetables were NOT fresh!! It was 4 of us, we each tasted the others meal. Only one meal Drunken Noodles - tasted fine. My eggplant was RUBBERY! My girlfriend had thawed out tough string beans! Oh and my rice . . . Hard, dry clump about the size of a small potatoe. Only one of us took our leftovers home.

Low key, delightful, and tasty. Everything I look for. It's clean, and the food is on par with the better Thai restaurants I've been to. Will definitely be going back again for dine-in and take-out.

If you want Thai, and you like it spicy -- this is it. I have been looking for good Thai in the area for a while, and I finally found a new fave :) I love super spicy food, and the 5 out of 5 level, was hot enough even for me. But be warned, its not for the faint of taste buds, my bf thought the 3 out of 5 was a bit too spicy -- so start low and work your way up. I've been there 3 times in two weeks for take out - and haven't been disappointed yet! It's that good.

I have been here twice, once a long time ago, and then recently. The food was darn good as was the service. There was a meathead at another table who wanted every other diner there to know how cool he was.

I have never dined in their restaurant. I just call my order ahead & pick it up. Their food is always fresh & consistently good. I haven't been adventurous with trying everything on their menu. I usually order their sweet basil fried rice with chicken & their drunken noodles with either chicken or tofu. Both of those dishes are delicious. I do find their lunch portions to be a small for the price, but the flavors make up for that.

There are plenty of better alternatives in Baltimore. This is Thai for the masses, aiming for the top of the parabola of American popularity. That's fine for some, I prefer my Thai with a bit more . Sa-Tay or Drunken Noodles perhaps Pad Thai are what most Americans think of as Thai food. Any of these choices are "safe" for an American palate. If you want "real" Thai, like Yum Nahm Thok, Po Peah Thod, Pet Pad Kra-prao you don't have to get on a plane to Southeast Asia, you just have to find a place with more authentic credentials.

Overall Rating: (4.4 / 5) "Exceptional" We stumbled upon Crystal Thai while in Owings Mills, and we are very happy that we did. Crystal Thai has become our favorite Thai restaurant and we make excuses to find ourselves in the vicinity of the restaurant all the time. The food quality is superb, the portion sizes large, and the prices relatively low. What more could you want? Full Review: Food (5 / 5) "One of the best": Wow. We have had Thai from restaurants all over Maryland, but nowhere offers as consistently high-quality, delicious Thai food as Crystal Thai. Every dish has been stellar, and we've tried several. The Pad Thai is the absolute best we've tasted, and the beef basil is delightful. The portions are very generous. Also, they have a spicy scale of 1 to 5, so you can tell them exactly how spicy you want your dish. We love spicy, and 5 more than did the trick. Service (3.5 / 5) "Good": The service is average in every way except for the fact that they get the food to you very quickly. There are a few awkward staff members, but overall the service is good for the basics--glasses full, food on the table, close by if you need anything. Value (4 / 5) "Great": One of the cheaper Thai restaurants in Maryland, which is great considering they have the best quality food. Atmosphere (3.5 / 5) "Good": The restaurant it small (two rooms), but the decor is nice, featuring whole-wall paintings and tranquil surroundings. The staff could add a little to the atmosphere by being more personable. Scoring Weights: Food - 50%, Value - 20%, Service - 20%, Atmosphere - 10%. After all, food makes a restaurant--everything else is just the figurative sugar and cherry on top. Final Ranking: .8 and .9 is awarded the next level up for final ranking. For example, 3.8 is awarded 4 stars.

My wife and I love this place and we can't eat here enough. The steamed pork dumplings are perfect, you have to try them. My wife will only order the Massaman Curry, which is fine with me because it's so damn good. I've ordered the Green Curry, which is very nice and has a little kick to it and the Drunken Noodles are very good. My favorite is the Thai Red Curry, I would get it every time but I feel the need to explore the menu. The staff is always nice, quick, and attentive. I don't know the name of our waitress but she is very friendly and has excellent recommendations. They are BYOB, inexpensive, friendly, quick, and serve the best food in the 21117.

Great food. I read the reviews and decided to give this restaurant a try. Slow service is the only reason for 4*. The location is good and I cannot speak on the dining service since I ordered my meal to go. Food was fresh, well prepared & delicious. I would return and try dining in. Aside from the wait time, a good restaurant.

I don't get why they don't list the website? mycrystalthai.com If you see it above, it's because i was finally able to add it Great food Authentic More $$ and a bit smaller portions, but that's because they couldn't be in a less visible location, and don't get a lot of foot/car traffic I've been to Thailand, and i've never seen Panang Curry made with peanut sauce, but it's killer The cold/soft spring rolls are great All the green papaya salads are fresh and crisp The curries are rich and deep Get a group together, order a bunch of stuff, give it a try. You'll like it When you want it hot, just ask for "+5 star hot" and they usually spice it up really well Also, they don't deliver, which is crazy, but whatever
